ATC initiates proceedings to declare KP CM Sohail Afridi proclaimed offender

ISLAMABAD (92 News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has initiated proceedings to declare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi, KP minister Meena Khan Afridi, and Dr Amjad proclaimed offenders.

The action follows their repeated failure to appear before the court in a case linked to the November 26 protest.

ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the request to begin the process after Inspector Abdul Qadir of Police Station Noon submitted an application.

The request stated that despite multiple summons, the accused had not presented themselves before the court.

The court noted that the accused were “deliberately evading arrest”, approving the initiation of proceedings to declare them proclaimed offenders.

It is to be noted here that the case was lodged against the KP chief minister and others for their alleged involvement in the November 26 protest, and the court’s latest move marks a significant escalation in the legal process.
